Either she knows something, there's some kind of timing issue, or maybe she's got some kind of litigation going herself?? Or...the usual. It's been suggested that she find a new home, sooner than later.
I think that's more probable, and they don't want to give the appearance of basically admitting they've allowed the malfeasance to happen at all, much less continue. That's the way they operate.
Better to have it look like everything's just fine, and she's decided to get back closer to her roots.

What would be REALLY interesting is if we knew that her underlings were job-seeking too!!

Responding to the reader, Groth's two highest ranking Associate A.D.'s both applied, but did not get, jobs out of state in the past 2-3 months. Groth has also been seeking employment outside the state.
However, her biography of corruption makes her unemployable to any respectable institution.
